Welcome to Radio-Talk.net!
Radio-Talk.net is a place to go and discuss, without fear of censorship and
retribution, the business that we all know and love.
Radio-Talk.net is not corporately owned and does not accept corporate
advertisers so, you don't have to worry that we will feel the urge to steer your
conversations in one way or another so as to satisfy our corporate sponsors. We
also do not condone "know it alls" who seek only to elevate their own status and
to stroke their own egos by belittling others who are not quite as knowledgeable
but who would like to learn and come here to ask questions.
You Are Welcome Here!
Radio-Talk.net is here for you to learn from and to enjoy as well as to share
your own knowledge with others.
Radio-Talk.net Is A
Friendly Forum!
We realize that our industry is indeed ego driven. But, other sites allow some
of the most conceited and egotistical among us to set the pace and "attitude" of
the conversations and this seems to almost always end-up with those overly
inflated egomaniacs "shouting down" anyone who would dare even attempt
presenting an opposing view. We will not condone that here. Everyone will be
equal. (For this reason, most of the true egomaniacs will probably never migrate
here and this will make Radio-Talk.net a friendlier site, indeed!)
Incredible Knowledge And Support From Very
Friendly People!
Radio-Talk.net, for the past four years, has amassed an incredible membership
that includes some of the most brilliant leader of the broadcast industry! All
we need to set this huge source of knowledge and information in motion is enough
conversation to keep everyone returning on a regular basis. Please, when you
come to Radio-Talk.net, don't just look and say "Well, it's all quiet and
there's nothing going on." and then leave. POST SOMETHING!!! Help us get things
started so that we can be what you, and everyone else is looking for!
Professional Attitude!
Most importantly, let's all try to get along! Yes, some of our newer members
will have formed some opinions that are far from correct but, that's all part of
learning about our business, right? Instead of coming out with endless derision,
how about gently explaining how and why the person is wrong while explaining the
reasoning behind your thinking? Let's all plan to and strive for a pleasant and
enjoyable - yet educational - experience as we learn and share our knowledge of
a great industry that we all know and love!

Hi all, Back in the early 2000s I was a big fan of Dave Kane and used to record his show on WPRO. I later discovered that he moved to WNRI in 2005 and began recording him there too. I have a large collection of his full shows in MP3 format, from 2000-2009. I uploaded one of the oldest I have to YouTube. From May 13 2000, here is a full episode of "Kane and Company": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmrFs4lt0N8If anyone is interested in hearing more, let me know.

This topic has been made necessary by the topic at http://www.radio-talk.net/forum/index.php?topic=944.0;topicseen and the resulting political discussion. As site admin, I have also been wondering if we should not take just a bit more effort in keeping the discussions more about radio and broadcasting and less about politics (although, at times, I can see where the two can overlap slightly). The single biggest problem I have with this is my hope of having a site whereby we are all free to discuss anything (within reason) without feeling the "iron fist" of other sites as it comes crashing down. In a nutshell, I guess we need extra site admin(s) or, at east, someone(s) who would be willing to monitor and step-in as needed or - at least - to prune the posts so as to avoid straying so far "out there" that they really have very little to do with radio at all. I guess, I will copy this particular post into "site discussion" and seek input on this issue before things become so completely out of hand that everyone is completely "put-off" by the political discussions. As I am "on the road" as much as 6 months each year (currently, I'm in Red Bluff, CA. building the new KRAC-AM), I will be first to admit that I really do not have the time required to monitor online discussion, here. Perhaps one (or several) of our regulars would care to assist? (If so, a private message will suffice.) Thoughts, anyone?

The Birmingham News has a photo of the WKLF radio tower in Clanton that was destroyed by this morning's tornado in Chilton County. It appears there were few if any injuries from this tornado, which struck Maplesville as well as Clanton. People were not so lucky around Birmingham, however, where scores of injuries and a few deaths came from a long track tornado that hit Oak Grove, Fultondale, Pinson, Center Point, Clay, Chalkville and Trussville. I hope everyone here made it through these terrible storms without issue. It's interesting to note that WKLF's license has been deleted for a while, maybe years, but they've remained on the air AND gotten an FM translator during this time. It took an act of nature to finally do what the FCC couldn't.
